Make an origami Arwing

Join Team Star Fox and create your very own Arwing spaceship!

Click on your favourite member of the Star Fox crew below to download and print their Arwing origami sheet, then follow the instructions below to put your ship together. Good luck!

Helpful hints

Origami is the art of paper folding and can be used to transform paper into lots of cool objects and shapes. To make an origami Arwing, you will be using the following folding techniques:

Mountain fold
When you fold something inwards, this is known as a mountain fold.
Valley fold
When you fold something outwards, this is known as a valley fold.

Instructions:

You Will Need:

  • A printed copy of the Arwing origami sheet
  • A pair of scissors
  • A ruler (optional)
  • A paperclip (optional)

Safety first!

Ask a grown-up to help you with Step 1 and 29

Print out an Arwing origami sheet and use a pair of scissors to carefully cut off the borders.
Fold the sheet in half, as shown in the image.
Fold over the top section, as shown in the image.
Turn it over and fold up one half of the diamond shape, as shown in the image.
Turn it over again and fold gently inwards, along the green lines shown in the image, so the paper is creased.
You can make your folds perfect by using a ruler!
Fold inwards along the line shown in green in the image.
Fold inwards again along the green line shown in the image.
Fold the opposite side in the same way.
Fold inwards along the green line shown in the image.
Fold inwards along the green line shown in the image.
Fold inwards along the green line shown in the image.
Fold the wing section upwards as shown in the image.
Push in the section indicated in red with your finger.
Fold while pressing down, just like in this picture.
Your Arwing should now look like the one in the picture.
Turn your Arwing over and repeat steps 10 - 15 for the other side.
Push out the cockpit from top to bottom along the green lines shown in the image…
…just like the picture above.
After pushing the cockpit section up, and folding it in the middle, your Arwing should look like the one in the picture.
Open the Arwing out and fold the back section downwards, as shown by the red line in the image.
Close the Arwing again so it looks like the one in the picture.
Fold the top part down along the green line shown in the image to make a flap.
Turn your Arwing over and do the same on the other side.
Following the folds you made in steps 21 - 24, gradually fold the cockpit inwards.

Your Arwing should now look the one in the picture
Here’s how it should look from another angle.
Use a pair of scissors to cut out the black parts shown in the image.
Your Arwing is now ready for action!
Tip: You can use a paperclip to hold the bottom section and improve its flying capabilities.
